How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
My husband & I have four kids. Kali (17), Caden (14), Celton (8), and Kyson (6).
How long have you lived in the Columbus area, and what made you decide to live here?
We moved to the area in early 2005. My husband and I thought it would be a great place to raise a family.
What is your favorite family activity?
We love glamping, not camping! Columbus KOA is our favorite local spot. In colder months you can find my family of six snuggled up on the couch, candles burning, fire going, buckets of popcorn, and watching movies!
What do you love about living in the Columbus area?
There is *always* something to do in Cbus!! Always! Family friendly events or just a night out for my husband and I.
Tell us about your business, BalloonCasions.
BalloonCasions is like my 5th baby! I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat, & tears into growing! Literally! It took a little while for Ohio to catch onto the all white bounce house and organic balloon trend. But, here we are! We are grateful to provide balloon decor for corporate events, birthdays, grand openings, school events, & weddings. There’s always a reason to celebrate and BalloonCasions is committed to keeping the 614 on trend within the event industry.
How did you get started?
I saw photos on Pinterest and Instagram of white bounce houses, large numbers, and homes decked out in balloons. I wanted something similar for my son, Celton’s birthday, but couldn’t find a local balloon artist offering those services, so I created BalloonCasions.
What do you love about your job?
Literally everything! Meeting and working with so many amazing local vendors. My clients are awesome too! I think my all time favorite is working alongside the community for adopt-a-grandparent. We were able to adopt 450 local seniors at assisted living facilities for Valentine’s Day. It was so heart-warming and just what our seniors needed to lift their spirits during the crazy Covid times. Just to show them they are still loved & thought of.
What makes BalloonCasions unique?
BalloonCasions was the FIRST company to introduce the all white bounce house & remains the only company in Ohio with our steel geometric frames. We also hold the title of having the largest white bounce house in the country! We aren’t your average balloon company. We see a need, a trend, and make moves!
How do you juggle work and mommyhood?
I struggled with this a bit at first. Growing a company from the ground up takes a lot of your time & attention. I would stay up late to get things crossed off my to do list. I realized just this past summer that I don’t have to do it all on my own. I hired help and I wish I would have done that sooner. I can accomplish so much more with my amazing Party Squad!! So thankful for each of them.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
Not from another Mom, but actually a framed quote from my husband. “Being a Mom is the hardest job you will ever love” and it’s something I always say to new Moms. Motherhood is TOUGH!!! Sleepless nights, cranky kids, endless laundry & sticky messes. At the end of those hard, often exhausting days you find yourself staring at your sleeping child(ren) ever so peacefully. Your heart just overtaken by love for these little human tornadoes!
