Where to See and Visit with Animals Around the Columbus Area

Calling all animal lovers! Are you looking for places around Columbus where you can visit animals? Maybe even pet and/or feed them? Scroll down to find a list of places in Columbus, or a short drive from Columbus, where you can take your animal lovers.

Please double check each location’s website or give them a call for specific information regarding opportunities to see animals, whether reservations are required, and cost to visit if any. Some locations have regular visiting opportunities, while others are occasional and/or only for special occasions. Stratford Ecological Center

The animals like to gather in the barn or graze in the pasture. You can pet and admire them down the visiting lanes of the barn. Current (from May 19-September 8) Self-Guided Visiting Hours: Saturday from 9am-1pm.

Olentangy Caverns

Come meet our herd! The animals are super friendly and love to have visitors. Open March 23 – October 31: 10am-6pm daily. (petting zoo hours are 10am-4:30pm)

Slate Run Living Historical Farm

Pigs, geese, turkeys, Percheron horses and other heirloom animals can be seen. Programs and activities resume in April each year  – check the calendar for events. Admission is free.

Kitty Bubble Cafe

The cat lounge is limited to ages 6 & up ONLY! Ticketed children ages 6-12 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Securing your tickets in advance is highly recommended. No walk-ins allowed if cat lounge is full. No tickets needed for Cafe side, where you can see the cat lounge through windows, but they are in a different room.

Fox’s High Rock Farm is open from April through October, inviting visitors to enjoy our delightful petting zoo and a range of engaging activities.

Colony Cats Adoption Center is open to the public for regular hours. Come by and visit all of our wonderful adoptable cats and kittens. Interact with our cats as they play, perch, or snooze. You never know…you might just meet your forever furiend!

Join us for a fun and informal open house held the second Sunday of each month at our Cook Road Education Center in Powell, no registration Required.

Join us for a story or two, make your very own craft, and meet one of our animal ambassadors. Held the first Wednesday of each month at our Cook Road Education Center in Powell, registration is required.

Visit the farm animal petting area to get up close and personal with a huge variety of farm animals including chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, sheep, horses, cows, and more. Purchase animal feed or carrots to hand feed many of the animals.
