Most schools are closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so I’ve put together a list of things to do around Columbus. I will be updating this list if more events are announced.

MLK Day Open House at Ohio History Connection

Celebrate the life and legacy of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King through visual and performing art performances. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the impact of Dr. King’s teachings and learn how his work changed the trajectory of the country. Free, but pre-registration strongly recommended.

Ohio History Connection: 10am-4pm

Battelle Darby Creek Nature Center: 2pm-3pm

MLK Day Camp at KSM Youth Fitness

It is the coolest place to be on the days school is closed!! Camp runs from 7:30AM to 6PM.

We will have games, arts & crafts, sports and MORE! Grades K-5 welcome! Bring your own water bottle, lunch, and 2 snacks, or snacks are available for $1/2 each! Register to save your spot. See website for details and cost.

MLK Day Kids Art Camp at Busy Bees

Sign up your young artist for a creative afternoon at Busy Bees’ MLK Day Art Camp! Your child(ren) will explore different mediums, play games, and have fun during camp! We will have a lunch break between projects, please pack your child a lunch, drink and/or snacks for our break. Register to save your spot. See website for details and cost.

Seeds of Caring MLK Day of Caring at Ohio History Connection

Kids will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King by exploring social action and donating gently used or new books with diverse characters. Free, but must reserve a spot. **only a few spots remain as of this post**

MLK Day of Learning at Capital University

A day filled with inspiration, reflection, and community involvement awaits as we pay tribute to the impactful teachings of Dr. King. Those who have registered are encouraged to join the keynote address, actively engage in workshops, and take advantage of service opportunities. Additionally, Kids Korner will offer activities catering to children of various ages!

Capital University: 10am-3:30pm

Columbus Blue Jackets at 1pm

The Blue Jackets play a rare afternoon game at 1pm against the Vancouver Canucks. Ticket prices vary.

$1 Admission to the National Veterans Memorial Museum

We welcome you to join us on MLK Day for $1 admission and be inspired by the courage of those who served their nation. Open 10am-5pm
